The USDA has extensively tested our product as well as most all competitive products.
Blue Rhino SkeeterVac underwent a wide variety of testing by the Gainesville, Florida office of the USDA in the summer and fall of 2002. The testing was designed and lead by Dr. Daniel L. Kline, Research Entomologist, considered by many as the leader in this field. Studies were conducted in controlled laboratory cages as well as in 2 residential locations.
In lab tests:
- SkeeterVac reduced nuisance by 98%. After 24 hours only 2% of the released mosquito population landed on human test subjects.
- SkeeterVac effectively captured and killed over 60% of available female mosquitoes thus eliminating their ability to lay eggs.
- These results were better or significantly better than similarly priced and lower priced models on the market today.
In field tests:
- In one mixed habitat location SkeeterVac attracted, trapped and killed over 320 mosquitoes (15 species) in a 2 week period.
- In a residential location located near a wetland SkeeterVac attracted, trapped and killed over 230 mosquitoes (9 species) in a 2 week period.
